Our Story
We created The Rustic Timber Company in March 2020, as a result of us losing our day jobs due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We worked in the events and travel industries, which unfortunately were hit hard early on. We’ve had our Etsy shop open for about two years prior to this, but never really had the time to put the work in to make it successful.
This was the push we needed to get us going!
We started out in George’s parent’s garden. On sunny days, we worked outside and on the rainy days (which are common here in the UK!) we worked in their small cabin.
As orders began to flood in, we slowly started to take over their house… Having photoshoots in their living room, wrapping orders in their conservatory and testing leg stability in their dining room. We knew it was time to grow as a business.
Since then, we have moved from a small cabin, to a double garage to our THIRD workshop here in Hertfordshire. All our items are handcrafted from scaffold boards and chunky timber to create solid, rustic looking furniture.
